How do I set up my preferences?

If the Preferences window does not open on start up, and you want to set the preferences, then Click on the Edit menu and then Preferences... option in the screen above, which opens the Preferences window. (This window may open automatically the first time you run the program.)

The Preferences window provides access to the basic configuration information to connect your computer to your DCC system.  You will be using that system to actually  program and operate trains equipped with DCC decoders.

The window is split into two panes, on the left side is a list of preference groups that may be set. Clicking on one of the items opens the options that may be set in the right side pane.

Connections Pane (TABS are configured to the system your selected)

System manufacturer Drop-down list with all the supported DCC manufacturers, select the manufacturer of your system.
System connection : Drop-down list with all of the supported DCC system interfaces supportted by the manufacturer that you selected, select the interface that you are using.
Settings:
Serial port: Drop-down list to select the serial port to which your DCC interface is connected. If you do not know, check your system hardware configuration manual. A second drop-down list may include a selection if there are more than one possibility
Connection Prefix Include the prefix for your connection, in the case shown the "L" is default
Connection Name Should default to the connection used
Addional Connection Settings Check box for additional settings (default in this case)
Baud rate: Drop-down list of possible rates, in the case of the PR3 the default is selected.
Connection uses: Drop-down list to select hardware flow control or no flow control

will delete all the connection settings.

When completed with preferences, your preferences.

Changes in preferences will not take effect until the DecoderPro® is re-started.

There are additional preferences available select the group in the left pane.

Programmer Select either internal or LocoNet radio button

Preferences- files

File Locations (the default location for saving your files)

User File Locations Select the location for your user files on your system
Jython Script Location Set the location of Jython Script files

 

Preferences-Start up

Start Up (TABs select type of start up action)

Actions TAB Add Action to set up a Startup action
Buttons TAB Add Button to the Splash Screen
Files TAB Add Files that you want to load at startup
Scripts TAB Add Scripts to load at startup

Actions

Adds another action drop-down selection each time it is clicked.
Used to remove actions from your program interface that you no longer want to use
Select an action that you want to perform at Start up

Opens the file dialog box each time the button is clicked.
Used to remove Files from opening at Start Up
File Dialog Box Open Select an file that you want to load at Start up

Scripts

Opens the file dialog box each time the button is clicked.
Used to remove Scripts from opening at Start Up
File Dialog Box Open Select the script that you want to load at Start up

Display (GUI TAB)

Select the Graphics User Interface you want for your display.

Display(Locale TAB)

Drop-down list of languages supportted and to be displayed in your DecoderPro® when it starts.

Messages

TABS and selections can be used to set how and when messages are displayed.

Roster (Programmer TAB)

Programmer TAB allows you to select the programmer to select at startup.

Roster (Roster TAB)

Allows you to select a new default location for your locomotive roster.

Throttle Group

Throttle startup conditions may be selected.

WiThrottle Group

Allows you to set the startup conditions for your WiThrottle.

Before you exit the preferences, Click on button to save all your selections.
